Social Security Disability

The federal government provides disability benefits through the Social Security Administration, most commonly in the forms of Social Security Disability Insurance (known as SSD or SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). While these programs differ with regard to their purposes and funding sources, both serve to provide income and health benefits for those who cannot work due to a disabling medical condition. The medical criteria for SSD and SSI are essentially the same.

If you or a loved one has a disability that will keep him or her from working for at least a year (or if your child is disabled), you may qualify for Social Security Disability benefits. Obtaining those benefits is another matter, one that usually requires time and patience. Unfortunately, the help of a lawyer is often necessary to successfully navigate the seemingly endless maze of paperwork and processes that culminates in a person getting the help he or she is entitled to under federal law.

Helping People Obtain the Benefits They Need

At Logan-Thompson, P.C., we advise and represent disabled people in Tennessee who are pursuing Social Security Disability benefits.
We can assist you by:

Explaining your rights and responsibilities with regard to disability benefits
Preparing necessary paperwork and providing detailed assistance with medical documentation
Appealing and requesting reconsideration of rejected applications, which occur in the majority of cases
Representing you in ALJ hearings and appeals
Taking your case to federal court if you are rejected at all previous stages

Our firm has assisted many individuals and families in Social Security matters of all kinds. We can help you, as well.

Under most circumstances, we work on a contingency fee basis in Social Security Disability cases. This means you will not be charged attorney fees unless and until you are awarded disability benefits. Pursuant to federal law, these fees will represent a percentage of retroactive benefits and will not need to be paid out of pocket.
