Most people understand that driving distracted is dangerous to themselves and those around them. Yet, drunk driving is the cause of a great deal of car accidents in Tennessee and throughout the United States. While not all of these crashes have fatal results, they can cause physical, emotional and mental damage as those involved try to move forward.
Driving under the influence reportedly caused two recent crashes occurring in Tennessee. In the first collision, a 27-year-old was traveling along Interstate 65 before his vehicle became wedged under a tractor-trailer. The truck driver felt the impact of the accident and quickly pulled over, finding a man in a convertible underneath his vehicle. Fortunately, neither driver was injured during the course of the crash. The driver allegedly responsible is facing charges for DUI.
A second accident occurred when a 30-year-old driver came upon backed-up traffic unexpectedly and failed to stop. His vehicle slammed into the rear of the car in front of him. Authorities have charged him with driving under the influence and following too closely. He is out on bond. It was not reported whether anyone suffered injury.
Both of these motor vehicle collisions illustrate just how dangerous drunk driving, or distracted driving of any kind, can be. While no one was reportedly injured throughout the course of these two car accidents, the results could have been far worse. Those involved in other drinking and driving crashes in Tennessee have the right to file civil claims for any injury they suffer or for the wrongful death of a loved one. Legal professionals can assist victims as they take the next step in this process.
