Deadly car accident kills 1 in Tennessee

A single-car accident occurred recently that took the life of one individual and injured three others. The accident occurred on a recent Thursday morning near Palmer, located in Grundy County. When a car accident occurs that seriously injures or results in the death of a Tennessee resident, an injured victim or the family of a deceased victim are typically entitled to file a personal injury or wrongful death suit against the responsible party or parties.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is still investigating the deadly wreck. Investigators say the accident occurred several hours before sunrise on a local state route. A lieutenant from the Tennessee Highway Patrol says the vehicle left the road, after which it rolled several times.

A 25-year-old Clairfield man was later identified as the deceased victim by the THP. He was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Palmer man. Both a 20-year-old Palmer woman and a 22-year-old Whitwell woman were also passengers in the car. The three survivors were rushed to a local hospital to be treated for the injuries they suffered in the crash. Investigators say that they suspect the driver was on drugs at the time the accident occurred.

The investigation regarding this fatal accident is ongoing. The deceased victim's remaining family members may decide to pursue a civil claim against the driver for the damages they incurred. If criminal charges are formally filed and prosecutors secure a conviction on a charge related to the car accident, it might be offered as evidence in a wrongful death claim. The conviction could help establish negligence on the part of the driver, which is required to be proved before a civil court will consider an award of damages. Individuals in Tennessee who are seriously injured in car accidents typically consult experienced personal injury attorneys to establish the validity of proposed wrongful death claims and to seek advice and guidance throughout the claims process.
