Family of 3 killed in cross-over car accident in Alcoa

Driving on Tennessee roads can be dangerous, and, regardless of how careful a driver is, the actions of others can often not be anticipated. A family from Seymour was involved in a tragic car accident on a recent Saturday afternoon. This was one of many cross-over accidents that have claimed lives on Tennessee roads in recent months.

According to a preliminary Alcoa Police report, a 48-year-old man was traveling along a local roadway, accompanied by a 47-year-old woman and another 23-year-old passenger. At the same time, traveling in the opposite direction, a 34-year-old Walland man was driving an SUV. For reasons yet to be determined, the SUV veered across the center line and smashed head-on into the car carrying the three family members.

The driver of the sedan was killed by the impact of the collision. The two passengers in his car suffered serious injuries, and they were airlifted to the hospital. The driver of the SUV suffered only minor injuries, but he was transported to a hospital to have those injuries treated and also to have toxicology tests done. The accident was still under investigation at the time of the media report.

This Tennessee family will likely have to cope with several challenges in the aftermath of this fatal car accident. In addition to the emotional trauma and the medical expenses, they will also have to deal with the costs associated with end-of-life arrangements. Financial relief can be pursued by the filing of personal injury claims by the two injured victims, along with a wrongful death claim related to the tragic death of their loved one. Upon establishment of negligence and financial liability, monetary judgments may be awarded by the civil court to cover documented financial and other losses.
