With all of the major highways and Interstates that crisscross through the state, drivers in Tennessee see a great deal of big trucks. Though many of those that operate these big trucks are experienced drivers, accidents can still occur due to mechanical malfunctions or driver distraction. When truck accidents do occur, the damage inflicted is often substantial.
A recent truck accident resulted in the injury of another driver as well as damage to a business. The accident occurred in Knoxville in the early part of July. It involved a dump truck driven by a 44-year-old man.
According to the authorities, the driver lost control of his vehicle due to the its brakes malfunctioning. The truck then collided with an SUV operated by a 40-year-old woman before it crashed into the wall of a business. After being cut from the vehicle, the SUV driver was taken to a local medical center. Though the truck driver did not suffer any injuries, he received numerous citations.
When truck accidents occur that cause another person harm and the evidence suggests that the truck driver's negligence was a contributing factor to the accident, seriously injured victims often seek to file a personal injury claim against the trucker and the trucking company in a Tennessee civil court. A successfully navigated personal injury claim could result in a monetary judgment, and any damages that are recovered can help alleviate the financial fallout that often occurs. An experienced personal injury lawyer can establish whether there is a valid claim as well as provide ongoing support in the preparation and litigation of any lawsuit filed.
