A Tennessee maintenance worker was fatally hurt at work after getting into a forklift accident. The incident in which the man was hurt at work occurred in Benton County on a recent Thursday morning. It happened at Jones Plastic and Engineering while the man was operating a forklift.
Allegedly, the 58-year-old man from Camden was in the process of repairing the forklift when it suddenly toppled over on top of him. According to a company representative, the man’s employer has already gotten in touch with the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration to determine what may have caused the incident. Prior to the accident, the man had worked with the company for a total of two years.
Due to the extremely sudden and tragic nature of the man’s death, the employer has decided to bring counselors into the workplace in order to try to help employees deal with their difficult and painful emotions. According to a company representative, the loss of the forklift driver has been devastating. He said that his company’s prayers and thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones.
Loved ones and family members, relying on the salary of a person who was fatally hurt at work, may find themselves in dangerous financial circumstances following their loved one’s death. For this reason, these individuals may wish to pursue a workers’ compensation claim to help cover their living costs and also help to pay for funeral expenses for their loved one. While many individuals may wish to navigate the workers’ compensation applicant process alone, professional assistance may be wisely used to improve the chances of success.
