In most cases, parents do everything they can to ensure the safety of their child. A parent's worst nightmare often concerns any injury to their child. When a child suffers an injury despite the precautions that a parent may take, parents and their injured children are often left in emotional turmoil. In Tennessee, one parent is currently comforting her child following a dog bite.
According to the report, a mother and her young child were walking down the street when a pit bull charged at them and bit the child on the leg. The dog reportedly broke the chain that restrained him before crossing the street to attack the child. The child's mother doesn't believe the dog was properly contained and worries about future attacks.
Police reportedly investigated the chain and deemed it appropriate for the purpose of restraining the dog. However, the dog was taken by animal control in order to observe him before the owner can retain ownership of the animal. The child is reportedly expected to recover from his injury, which required the use of seven stitches to close the dog bites. According to the report, the owner could not provide proof that the dog had been properly vaccinated.
Securing the physical and emotional well-being of a child is one of the most important responsibilities of a Tennessee parent. Typically, children face a lot of minor injuries. Unfortunately, there are times when a child suffers an injury that requires medical intervention. In situations like the reported story, parents may be able to file a personal injury claim on the behalf of their injured child against any party whose negligence either caused the accident or substantially contributed to it.
